Old Vine Zinfandel | Russian River Valley | Sonoma County
Old Vine Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County are some of the most highly sought grapes by wineries making red zinfandel wines. Zinfandel vineyards comprise only 10% of the total vineyards planted to wine grapes in California, and Old Vine Zinfandel is just a fraction of that amount. The grapes are highly prized for making lush, rich red wines of depth and character.
The wines made from Old Vine Zinfandel grapes are typically full-bodied, rich wines with characteristics that include flavors of blackberries, dark cherries, raspberries, spice, and black and white pepper. Old Vine Zinfandel wines are typically very aromatic and coat the palate with red and dark berry fruit flavors with a long finish.
The reason Old Vine Zinfandel vines are very rare is that they are typically over 50 years old. You can't just plant an Old Vine Zinfandel vineyard. These old vines are often pulled up and replanted with younger vines that produce more fruit.
Another reason the old vine zinfandel vineyards are very rare is that they produce much less than younger vines. An old vine vineyard may only produce one-half to one ton of fruit per acre, whereas a younger vine vineyard will produce anywhere from 4-6 tons per acre.
There is a definite trade off. The depth and richness achieved by old vines is impossible for the younger vines to duplicate.
Seek out some of these old vine zinfandels and try them for yourself. If you are a fan of big, rich red wines, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Hi does anyone had bad experience with Red Zone Old Spice deodorant?
Hi before I use to use Gillette deodorant for 2yrs with no problems. I wanted try different with Red Zone Old Spice deodorant & for 2 days, I started to rash & itching. My arm hurts a little when I left them up & I of course I discontinue using it. Did anyone had any problems with Red Zone Old Spice??? Thank you.
One of the Old Spices in a red container made me itch after the stick was worn low.
Now I use Arrid extra dry clear gel w/ no probs. As I recall, it has fewer chems.
