Lowering High Blood Pressure
Brief
Metabolic Syndromes as hypertension and diabetes are killer diseases in our world; lifestyle put many at risk of contracting either or both; these diseases can degenerate into Cardiovascular, Cerebrovascular disease or both.
Researches are directed to know more about their cause, management and cure. This paper presents a procedure to restore blood pressure to normal or near normal for people that have HyPertensioN (HPN). Nutrition, ambient temperature and oxygen-rich air inhalation are three stages of this research; they will see that the autonomous nervous system and blood vessels return steady high blood pressure to normal.
It is the brain that controls blood pressure, some causes of HPN is not understood and treatment from the brain is in infancy. This paper addresses HPN from blood vessels where signals about blood pressure are sent to the brain.
Glycoprotein, antithrombin, collagen and elastin are examples of blood vessels component; they are provided to the body when certain fruits are eaten. Patients are to eat these fruits; sit in a room with temperature lower than what body is used to and administered oxygen-rich air, blood pressure is expected to be lowered because of the effect each stage have on blood pressure, details is presented.
Conditional Combinational Treatment
Nutrition. Ambient Temperature. Oxygen
Nutrition
Fruits are of high nutritional value, some are rich in constituents of blood vessels, patients will ingest them to supplement blood vessels, procedures to follow after ingestion will effect changes to blood vessels; changes in elasticity and resistance of tunica intima against oncoming pressure.
There are epithelial cells that make up the tunica intima and other collagen fiber that make up the tunica adventitia and tunica media; these cells are made of glucose, proteins and amino acids, fruits rich in these help a great deal when ingested for high blood pressure reduction.
Two questions come to mind here, first, there is no damage in any artery so what repairs are made to blood vessels? Secondly, there are similar cells available in other parts of the body, will nutrients of ingested fruits not supplement cells of other tissues.
Procedures following fruit ingestion part nutrients to blood vessels; when blood vessels notice change of blood pressure due to vasoconstriction, vasodilatation and oxygen rich-air inhalation, absorbed nutrients supplement blood vessels when flowing before supply to other parts of the body. Fruits will supplement the epithelial cells, elastin and collagen of arteries first before distribution to other parts of the body.
Usually cell membrane of blood vessels constituent cells are renewed by some vitamins, minerals and other class of foods, some of these nutrients are made within the body, others come from ingestion to meet renewal needs of the vessels.
This therapy makes selected fruits & other conditions directionally work to enhance the elasticity of the arterial wall and the capacitance of the blood vessels. When elasticity of the arterial wall is increased it fosters distending and recoil and promotes blood flow in small arteries and arterioles and overall elastic matrix. These changes resulting in lowered blood pressure when noticed, arterial baroreceptors send messages to about this to the brain.
Blood pressure value in HPN patients becomes ‘normal' overtime, when this therapy is used for HPN patients, blood pressure is lowered, this message through baroreceptors will be sent to the brain.
Fruits like water melon, garlic and lemon provide the body with glycoprotein and amino acids; they will be ingested in this therapy for the purpose of lowering high blood pressure.
Watermelon
Ingesting an amount of watermelon for a sometime increases the arterial diameter. Watermelon contains an amino acid called arginine, arginine produces a compound which is an essential constituent of the arterial wall. [1]
Garlic and Lemon
Garlic produces Hydrogen sulfide when it interacts with the blood cells; this compound makes smooth muscle cells to relax and take aim at membrane channels. Garlic molecules called polysulfide possess the capacity to increase hydrogen sulfide production; Hydrogen sulfide lowers high blood pressure possibly because of oxidative process in cells. [2][3] Lemon is said to strengthen the arterial wall due to its vitamin C constituents. [4]
Pomegranates
This high in antioxidant fruit helps reduce blood pressure in some way. [5] Proved from studies, pomegranates will be used in this treatment.
These fruits and a few that have the potential to lower blood pressure will be ingested by patients. Raw vegetables will also be ingested between fruits to provide nutrients that make up blood vessels.
Ambient Temperature
Following ingestion of fruits, patients will stay under temperatures less than usual, 2-5degrees lower. Patients should remain under this condition 30minutes after fruits are taken. It is known that hot food is cooled in the stomach and cold food is warmed in the stomach so temperature of the fruit is not the concern here; under cold external conditions, peripheral blood vessels constrict and visceral vessels get congested changing secretion and absorption pattern. [6]
The patient should stay there for some time to ensure that the body absorbs digested fruits and they act as expected in the blood vessels.
Low temperature is important to reduce blood pressure when vasoconstriction and vasodilation processes occur.
Oxygen
Humans inhale and exhale air, air contain different gases at atmospheric pressure; oxygen therapy for HPN patients lets the amount of inhaled oxygen raised to 30-40% against the usual 21% inhaled in air. Inhaled air is principally for oxygen; this treatment seeks to have more amount of the required gas (oxygen) to pass through blood vessels.
Blood vessel of man (healthy or with HPN) is used to certain pressure of normal air combined with blood. Inhalation of oxygen-rich air under same conditions as normal air will reduce the total pressure air and blood exerts on blood vessels.
Some calculations (mass-volume ratio and partial pressures) presented here show how oxygen-rich air reduces contribution of air to blood pressure.
Under careful conditions, patients sitting close to a vent will inhale air rich in oxygen coming from the vent so that air is inhaled under normal atmospheric pressure.
This is in contrast with the usual oxygen therapy where oxygen is administered under pressure; extra pressure is not required for this since pressure should be reduced. There can be other modes of inhalation than one described here; cost, recycling and flammability will be checked.
If we have a certain volume of air, A, containing all gases by volume; and we have another one, B, containing more volume of oxygen (say) 40%, B, in blood will comparatively exert lesser pressure on blood vessels than A.
Air contains 78% of Nitrogen, 20.9% of oxygen, 1% of water vapor, 0.97% of inert gases and 0.035% of Carbon (IV) oxide. Usually, increased mass is proportionate to increased volume, but is not same for gases where pressure is also involved in mass-volume relationship. The relative atomic mass of Nitrogen is 14, Oxygen is 16.
My calculation for mass-volume ratio of Nitrogen and oxygen in normal air is:
Nitrogen
14*78% = 10.92
Oxygen
16*21% = 3.36
If the percentage of oxygen is increased to 40%; that is (21 + 19) % and Nitrogen is reduced to (78 - 19) % or 59%
My calculation for mass-volume ratio of Nitrogen and oxygen in oxygen-rich air is:
Nitrogen
14*59% = 8.26
Oxygen
16*40% = 6.4
The volume of oxygen is increased in the same amount of air, reducing the partial pressure of nitrogen hence the total pressure exerted by inhaled air (and blood) in blood vessels. Additional 19% increase in oxygen will be uniform with the usual 21% pressure; this diminutive increase in pressure will be balanced by reduced pressure from nitrogen volume in blood vessels.
There is a certain volume of air that human nostrils take-in, air contains the 21% of oxygen enough for metabolism in hale persons. With improved oxygen administration process, oxygen-rich air can be inhaled as normal air without being under pressure (hyperbaric) as in other therapeutic use.
A critical thought here is that the partial pressure of 78% of Nitrogen intake (in normal air) which the blood vessels are used to, will be reduced when 40% oxygen-rich air is inhaled.
For the oxygen-rich air, oxygen is 40% = 0.4, under atmospheric pressure, 0.4*760mmHg = 304mmHg. This is the partial pressure 40% oxygen-rich gas will exert under atmospheric pressure in a container. This is not expected to be same in human body because oxygen-rich air for this therapy will be inhaled like air leaving additional pressure out. Patients will be told to listen to their heart beat during inhalation; this will enable them free their minds from thoughts while their arterial tunic is supplemented.
Some patients having history of oxygen toxicity, maybe administered oxygen rich air for 7-10minutes at different times; medical officers will use oximeter to monitor those patients. This therapy will provide high oxygen fraction in the blood for a short time, this will not result in side-effects associated with usual oxygen therapy because of (short) duration and (normal / normo-baric) pressure during administration. Fruits and vegetables will also provide the body with anti-oxidants to reduce free radical effects.
According to studies, Nitrogen in normal inhaled air help to keep the alveoli expanded. Oxygen rich air does not reduce Nitrogen role much since the therapy is for short interval.
This treatment is expected to be administered and changes will be monitored.
Treatment
This therapy is recommended for bed time so patients should pass the night at the medical center or go home relaxed after treatment. This is to ensure the body is reposed after treatment while healing continues within.
Treatment duration should be close to one hour a day for seven days. Patients should take 40g of three aforementioned fruits then relax under a low temperature room where parts of the body exposed to cold. Small amount of raw vegetables will be eaten between fruits. Vine-ripened fruits and vegetables are given to patients.
After 15minutes in the low temperature room; the patient is moved to a room where oxygen-rich air vent is; the patient should sit close to the vent to inhale the oxygen-rich air for 20 minutes and return to the low temperature room for another 20 minutes.
Patients will enter the low temperature room thirty minutes after ingesting the fruits so that absorption will coincide with other procedures. Low "unusual" temperature is set to effect changes on blood flow in blood vessels with respect to vasoconstriction and vasodilation respectively; while the oxygen-rich air will see that absorbed fruit, vasodilation (after vasoconstriction) are all working to lower high blood pressure in HPN patients.
Truly, only the effect of the fruit may outlive the one hour (or less) treatment period, those other conditions will ensure that while the fruits are absorbed and working as they should; blood pressure is decreased in a someway and will let baroreceptors notice the obvious change.
Blood pressure will be monitored in the morning before people go for their usual activity; the blood pressure reduction that stays through the night, should be seen in the latest result the next morning.
Different fruits will be administered on different days with different sequence; dwelling in low temperature room and oxygen-rich inhalation will also follow different pattern on other days as to which comes first and comes after. Oxygen-rich air should only be inhaled in twenty minutes or less per treatment daily.
This treatment should reduce blood pressure to 5mmHg lesser than usual high and as the treatment stays over a week, should increase to 10mmHg or more depending on lifestyle changes the patient applies within that week.
This treatment will work and should go farther by reducing way-to-high blood pressure if the method is reviewed and followed. I can imagine that HPN scourge is out of man troubling illness list. It will be a leap for science.

blood pressure?
A doctor gives you an diuretic that will make you lose K+ in order to lower your blood pressure. HOw does it work? All I know is that this creates hypoalkemia and that the resting membrane potential of neurones are hyperpolarized
To answer it at the easiest level: Potassium (K+) is an ion that attracts water, drawing the water OUT of the cells making them hypotonic. That actually RAISES the liquid in the blood vessels (hypertonic) but it is quickly filtered off through the kidneys, causing a decrease in blood pressure. Once again it goes into the ion charge and diffusion across the membrane walls in the kidneys. Diuretics help you urinate and tend to draw off excess liquids to do this, lowering the liquids in the blood stream and the related pressure.
Is this understandable? I can go into a more complex explanation but I don't know your level of medical understanding.
